We run a small ranch in Montana and a website to go with it. We collect as little as we can, and we do not sell any of it. Here is the whole of it.

Who we are

What we collect

If you sign up for the newsletter. Your email address, and nothing else. No name, no other fields. It is stored and sent through our email provider, Resend. We use it only to send occasional field notes. We never sell it or share it. You can unsubscribe anytime with the link at the bottom of any email.

Basic visit analytics. We keep a light, privacy-respecting record of visits so we know whether anyone is reading.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate.
We also keep our own simple log of visits. It records an approximate city, state, and country worked out from your IP address — but we do not store your IP address itself.
We use a random id saved in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so we can tell new visitors from returning ones.
We record which pages were viewed, the site that referred you, and a timestamp.

We do not track you across other websites. We do not show ads. We do not sell data.

Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect it.
